Nicki Macfarlane is one of the UK’s leading designers of beautiful bridesmaid, flower girl, pageboy, Christening and First Holy Communion outfits. In April 2011, Nicki won international acclaim when she was given the honour of creating the young bridesmaids’ dresses for HRH The Duchess of Cambridge.
Designing the dresses for The Royal Wedding was the culmination of 30 years’ experience for Nicki, who started making bespoke creations on a freelance basis. Nicki now has stockists as far afield as Australia, America, Brazil and the Middle East, as well as top stores Harrods and Bergdorf Goodman.
It’s all about the detail in her latest collection for 2014/15. With lace trims, ruffle sleeves, peplums and cut-out hearts, Nicki’s design expertise is evident in this collection, making it her most imaginative and original yet.
Back to Front:
Many of this season’s wedding dresses feature gorgeous, dramatic low backs, sometimes finished with a bow or flower detail. So to carry this look through Nicki has created Juliet, a silk dress with a heart cut out detail and Sarah, with a V neck back and stunning cluster of blousy organic flowers on the back of the waist.
And of course, Nicki’s signature fabulous generous sash and bows continue but this season with embellished beading.
Sparkle and Shine:
To add a bit of sparkle to any occasion, the latest collection also features the stunning Titania and Tinkerbell. These dresses are created using the most beautiful white or ivory tulle, embellished with delicate floral sparkles. Titania has delicate organza puff sleeves and a silk bodice while Tinkerbell has ruffle sleeve details and features sequinned tulle all over the dress.
Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeves:
We are all in love with the gorgeous Martha! The lovely ruffled sleeves give this empire line dress a feeling of the romance and drama of a Jane Austin novel. This truly original dress also features a removable beaded brooch and a velvet ribbon that ties at the back and is perfect for slightly older girls.
The popularity of lace continues and Nicki has introduced accents of lace, ideal for Bride’s with lace gowns or for those wanting just a hint of lace. The Flora silk organza dress comes in a beautiful array of sorbet shades and features a shoulder frills and a stunning peplum of delicate Nottingham Lace. Similarly, Millicent has the shoulder frills but has a matching hem of the lace and organza sash and bow
