Love Heart Feature // Party Lights South West

Autumn is on its way, which means the evenings are getting darker and the nights are getting longer. Outdoor parties are replaced with indoor venues and standing outside for some air becomes a rather chilly affair! Here at Party Lights South West we don’t see the start of Autumn as a bad thing. We believe that a party atmosphere is not determined by the seasons, but by the lighting.

Admittedly if the venue is reliant on standard bulb lighting or strip lighting, a party in the Winter is a sorry sight and people quickly become tired and head home as the evening draws in. At Party Lights we have a solution for events during dark evenings, which allows your party to continue well into the early hours.

We are able to provide specialist lighting for indoor and outdoor events throughout the year. Our specialist lighting includes lanterns, fairly light canopies and LOVE Letter lighting. Our lighting comes in a range of styles and colours and can be used to enhance photography and the atmosphere of a party. Our lighting is suitable for outdoors and can be used to decorate the outside of a venue to create a warm welcome for your guests. Professional lighting can enhance the look of the venue, the atmosphere of your event and ensures people continue to party late into the night, with little concern for the time!

Party Lights South West has a special offer for those of you organising an event in November. This typically dark month can be brightened with Party Lights South West who are offering a brilliant 20% off lighting for the whole month! Contact Dave to discuss your requirements and to arrange a quote.

Advice // Appointing your Wedding Party

Image: Taylor Lord {via Magnolia Rouge}

One of the most wonderful aspects of planning your wedding day is the ability to select some of your friends and family to make up your wedding party. There’s nothing quite like the reaction you get from your best girl when you pop the big question; ‘will you be my maid of honour?’! There will be smiles, there will be giggling, and there may even be a few tears when you request that your loved ones join the ranks of the most important people at your wedding. Of course you don’t need to appoint any attendants if you don’t want to! It you’re happy to meet you groom at the alter without the assistance of bridesmaids or groomsmen then it’s completely your decision. However my advice to brides and grooms is always to appoint the bare minimum of a maid of honour, a best man and an usher in order for you to get the help you need on the run up to the big day, and on the day itself.

The number of attendance appointed by the bride and groom generally reflects the size of the wedding. If it’s a small affair you and your groom may have one or two attendants each, however large weddings usually host a string of bridesmaids and groomsmen alongside a maid of honour, a best man, page boys and flower girls. Again, it’s completely your decision to make, but remember to keep your budget in the back of your mind when making these decisions.

While I urge you to really enjoy this process, I must add a note of caution as well. Choosing who will accompany you down the aisle also needs to be done with an element of care and tact. If you are blessed with a large group of ladies and sisters who you consider to be your best friends it can be difficult to choose just one of them to be your maid or matron of honour. Equally your fiancé may find it very difficult to pick one best man from his group of mates and brothers. Just remember that when you read about the roles of each member of the wedding party you are mostly likely reading about the traditional roles. If you decide to make changes then that’s completely fine, in fact I encourage you to! If you want three best men, then that’s great! If you want a couple of maids of honour and no bridesmaids, then go for it!

Personally I love the idea of formally requesting in writing that your loved ones be part of your wedding party whether it’s your fiancé’s groomsmen, or your maid of honour, bridesmaids, flowers girls or page boys. I recently saw a photo of a groomsmen request which had a small request card accompanied by a bow tie which the groom wanted his attendant to wear on the day! You could do the same thing with the hair accessory or necklace which you’ve purchased for your maid of honour and bridesmaids. I think this is a lovely thing to do as it increases the excitement felt by your attendants on the run up to your wedding day!

Oh, and one final piece of advice; if you’re having a long engagement I strongly advise you not to appoint your attendants until a little further down the line. This is because relationships with your friends and family will change over time, and the people who are with you on your wedding day need to be the closest people to you at that time in your lives.

Love Heart Feature // Armorial

Last week I was invited to view a brand new luxury stationery boutique in central London, and as anyone who knows me will be aware, I am ever so slightly obsessed with beautiful high end stationery and paper goods! Needless to say I was in heaven from the second I entered their elegant and inspiring boutique until the moment I left, and it instantly inspired ideas of a time before smartphones and tablets when writing and sending letters and cards was all we knew. Sometimes I’d like to go back to those days, if only for an excuse to treat myself to some of their beautiful products. Thankfully brides and grooms have the perfect justification as all of Armorial’s passion and craftsmanship has been poured into their beautifully indulgent wedding stationery.

Armorial is a luxury bespoke stationer based in Mayfair. They offer a range of exquisite wedding invitations and on the day stationery for the discerning bride and groom, as well as a fully bespoke service whereby the bride and groom will be assisted in the creation of your own completely unique wedding stationery. Regardless of your wedding’s concept and style, Armorial are able to produce paper goods which are guaranteed to enhance your current styling and design plans, and to provide your guests with a gorgeous keepsake.

Wedding stationery should not be every day, it should conjure up a sense of opulence and luxury which is experienced as part of a very special occasion. A great deal of importance is placed on ensuring that the practice of designing and creating your stationery is enjoyable and stress-free, and worthy of your wedding day. Armorial are not simply a luxury stationery company, they are offering an all-encompassing service which may lead to a life-long relationship. To me the idea that a bride and groom would forge such a strong rapport with their wedding stationer that they use them again for milestone birthday cards, bespoke personal stationery and birth announcements is simply wonderful!

Armorial use a number of print techniques within the creation of their wedding stationery, particularly engraving and die-stamping but also letterpress, blind embossing, foil blocking, duplexing, gilt edging and laser cutting. You can find detailed information regarding all of these techniques as well as beautiful examples of each on the Armorial website.

Armorial also offer a range of ‘on the shelf’ personal stationery products such as beautifully engraved greetings cards, correspondence cards and notebooks, all of which are available in luxurious gift packaging. Perhaps the centerpiece of the boutique however, is a range of the world’s most superior pens and pencils along with a range of notebooks bound with the highest quality leathers. For the groom and his groomsmen, all of these stunning items would make the ideal gift; perhaps a very desirable retracting fountain pen with a leather note book or a stunning set of executive pencils in an equally stunning case?  Do pop in to the shop if you can as the Armorial team will be only too pleased to help put an ideal gift package together for your special occasion.

Armorial do of course have an elegant boutique which is open Monday to Saturday, from 10am till 6pm, and which I whole-heartedly encourage you to visit for inspiration and to talk with the Armorial team regarding your options. What makes them particularly unique and convenient for busy brides and grooms, however, is that they are also very happy to travel to their client’s homes or offices to conduct consultations there.

If you are searching for a luxury stationer for your big day, you simply must visit Armorial first!

Love Heart Feature // Love, Honour and Be True

Today on the Lace & Love Hearts blog I am thrilled to introduce you to an exclusive new bridal makeup brand called Love, Honour and Be True. The lovely ladies at Love, Honour and Be True were kind enough to send me samples of two of their products and I have to say I was very impressed. I place a great deal of importance on only promoting products and services which I believe live up to my very high standards, and I can say with complete honestly that Love, Honour and Be True lipsticks are gorgeous, long-wearing, so moisturising and great for enhancing your natural beauty. Basically everything a bride could possibly want!

I wore both lipsticks for a day each, only had to re-apply twice, and was left with beautifully moisturised lips at the end of each day.

Now, over to the Love, Honour & Be True ladies for more about their gorgeous lipsticks…

Love, Honour and Be True is a Bridal makeup brand which has a range of five beautiful lipstick shades. Our products have been created with the sole purpose of enhancing the bride’s natural beauty.

Our colours have been specifically chosen to be timeless so your wedding photographs will always be beautiful. We designed our lipstick colours to vary from nude through to red.

We believe that every bride is unique and each shade is designed for a different look. All of our lipstick shades suit all skin tones, are moisturising, non-bleeding and long lasting. Our lipsticks are filled in the UK and all ingredients are not tested on animals. The lipstick are named after various wedding themes; Love Story, Kiss the Bride, I Do, Just Married and Blushing Bride.

Love, Honour and Be True was launched in early 2014 by sisters Helen and Kitty. Kitty got married in October 2012 and Helen was chosen to be her maid of honour. Planning and researching trends became an obsession and we found the whole process exciting and inspirational.

Kitty also has over ten years of professional makeup experience and knows how to ensure that every bride looks and feels her best of her big day. Kitty discovered that for brides the one thing they need once their makeup artist has left is an excellent quality lipstick to keep topped up, however many brides find it quite stressful to choose a lipstick for their wedding day. What colour? Will it wear well? How long will it last? Many brides also find beauty counters in department stores quite daunting, and an unnecessary source of stress as their special day approaches. All of this sparked an idea, and eighteen months later, our precious products have arrived!

A few short months after launching, our lipsticks have now been approached by the amazing British wedding dress designer Elizabeth Stuart to be part of her Fall show at London Bridal Fashion week, where the models wore our lovely nude ‘Just Married’. Their products are available via their online store, and can be found in the kits of over twenty makeup artists and salons throughout the UK and beyond.

The Alison Price & Company Wedding Showcase

Alison Price & Company enchanted guests with a Seasonal Wedding & Party Showcase

I was absolutely thrilled to receive an invitation to an exclusive showcase held at the very beautiful Two Temple Place and hosted by esteemed London catering company, Alison Price & Company. As I had not been introduced to Alison Price’s work before, I was very keen to find out for myself why they have such a strong reputation. It turns out I was in for a real treat!

The showcase was split between two grand and imposing rooms, one of which was filled with the most intricately beautiful and delicious foods I have ever seen. It was like walking into an Aladdin’s Cave where every single treasure was edible, and tasted out of this world. This was art in its truest form and created an enchanted atmosphere of intrigue and enjoyment. The room was completed by a beautiful bride wearing an exquisite and delicately embellished gown and gorgeous background music.

Making my way up the magnificent central staircase to the second floor I entered an imposing great hall complete with oak panelling, a vaulted ceiling and magical lighting. Within this room I was able to enjoy floral arrangements, tablescapes, wedding cakes and stationery from some of the UK’s most passionate and talented suppliers.

Every element came together perfectly to create a wonderful showcase which highlighted how innovative and ahead of their game Alison Price & Company really are.

Take a look below for more information regarding the event and contact details for the suppliers…

A special mention to Kate Nielen Fine Art Photography. Kate, your images are quite simply sublime. Thank you for giving me access to them for this feature. I hope that we can work together again soon.

An enviable list of wedding and event planners, bloggers and press attended an exclusive evening at the spectacular Two Temple Place, London last night, showcasing the style of food, design and service Alison Price & Company can provide for weddings and private parties.

‘Seasons’ was the theme of the evening and as guests entered the ornately decorated hall they were welcomed with food stations packed with miniature, edible delights. Guests sampled delicious cheese boards and cured meats from the autumnal charcuterie station, a winter wonderland bar, spring afternoon tea and irresistible summer desserts, whilst the sounds of a live band from Sternberg Clarke filled the room.

The showcase continued upstairs as guests were invited to view a show stopping range of cakes provided by Elizabeth’s Cakes Emporium and four impressive wedding table designs, reflecting the seasons. This was a collaboration of beautiful furniture from Great Hire and Jones, wonderfully designed menus and invitations by Piccolo Press, topped with stunning flower arrangements by Shane Connolly & Company. A competitive element was added to the evening by the Alison Price team as guests were asked to vote on their favourite season!

Wise Productions provided perfect lighting, whilst Chapter 7 scents ensured that the venue smelt amazing, adding to the warm ambience at Two Temple Place. The evening was complete with a model bride gracing the rooms in an exquisite dress designed by Sassi Holford.
